The Night Before the First Day of School

Wildcat Community:

It has been 543 days since we last had all of our students, teachers, and staff in the halls, classrooms, and offices of Deep Run.

This is the Night Before the First Day of School….. which promises to be the best ever!

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO WELCOME OUR WILDCATS TO THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL tomorrow!

This email is intended to share additional information regarding the first day of school:

CHECK YOUR SCHEDULE

Please use PowerSchool to check your schedule. There have been changes to schedules since the Open House. Please use PowerSchool to access your most up-to-date and correct schedule.

STUDENT ARRIVAL / DROP-OFF

Students are not permitted to arrive at school before 8:30a unless prior arrangements and plans have been made with the teacher/club sponsor/coach/adult. We do not have staff available prior to that time.

Students are to report directly to their first-period class. Unfortunately, we will not be able to socialize in the commons or other areas of the school, due to our social distancing efforts.

REPORT TO 1st PERIOD

Students should report to 1st Period every day (except half-day dismissal or a delayed start), including tomorrow.

SCHOOL SAFETY PLAN: COVID PROTOCOLS

All Families, Students, Faculty, and Staff are encouraged to read and be familiar with Deep Run’s School Safety Plan: Covid Protocols.

TRANSPORTATION

You may have received notification on Sunday that your child has been assigned a new later bus pick-up time.  These new times are temporary and were assigned to prevent long delays at bus stops as the Transportation Department refines bus rosters and routes. Students will not be marked late if the bus is arriving past the school’s start time. Our school is making arrangements to assist students who may arrive via bus past the first period to ensure they have not missed information/course content.

To assist our transportation team with finalizing bus routes and rosters, if you have signed up for bus ridership this year, please encourage your child(ren) to ride the bus to school on the first day. It is critical that the final routes reflect the actual number of student riders. Bus capacity and routes need to be set based on accurate data to best establish pick-up and drop-off times. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through transportation challenges during the first weeks of school.  Our drivers look forward to greeting their new bus riders tomorrow for our first day of school.

If you do not have a bus assigned to you on PowerSchool, please keep checking. The routing department is updating routes continuously.

A FINAL WORD (or two)……

The Deep Run Community is amazing. We appreciate every single person in our learning community. We hope the first day for everyone is exciting and smooth. If there are issues tomorrow – or any day during the school year – please know we all will support each other. We will communicate with one another to find the best possible solution with our students being at the center of every decision we make.

We do not know what the next ten months will look like – but whatever happens, we will be there for each other and we all do our best to provide a world-class education to our students regardless of what the circumstances dictate.

School starts in 15 hours….. Let’s do this!!!!!!

Go Wildcats!
