DRHS Revised Traffic Plan - beginning Wed, Nov 4 - for Drop-Off/Pick-Up and Student Drivers

Wildcat Community:

With a focus on safety and with the goal of improving efficiency, the traffic plan for Deep Run High School for morning arrival/drop-off and afternoon pick-up/departure is being revised. This will go into effect on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. This message will be shared on ParentSquare multiple times before implementation. You have probably noticed some minor changes that have already been implemented—for example, the front row of spaces in the visitor lot is no longer being utilized.

Please review the accompanying morning and afternoon traffic maps and the directions below.

Morning Arrival and Student Drop-Off

  • Two incoming lanes will travel through the visitor lot to help clear traffic from Twin Hickory Road. These lanes will merge as drivers approach the student drop-off area.

  • Drivers dropping off students should follow the exterior loop around the student parking lot and use the far-right lane next to Commons II for drop-off.

  • If you are unable to merge into the drop-off lane, you may park in an available space in the student parking lot and let your student out. Your student must then use the designated middle crosswalk to reach the school.

  • After completing the loop, stay in the right lane to exit campus using the access road beside the stadium. Drivers who do not take this exit will continue around the loop.

  • Student drop-off is not permitted in the faculty parking lot.

  • Student drivers may continue to enter campus at the stadium entrance.

Morning Pedestrian Safety

Students walking from the student parking lot—including those dropped off in a parking space—must use the middle, white-striped crosswalk directly across from Commons II. The lower crosswalk near the visitor lot must not be used by pedestrians.

Morning Visitor Access & Students with Late Arrival

Students with Late Arrival should be dropped off in the student parking lot and not at the visitors lot.

Traffic regulators will remain permanently in place by the stadium. Regulators near the visitor lot will be in place approximately 7:30–11:00 a.m.

Visitors arriving before 11:00 a.m. who need to access the visitor lot must use the main entrance by the marquee.

Afternoon Student Pickup and Departure (including students with Early Release)

Drivers may wait in the far-right lane next to the school, near Commons I and II. Once that lane is full, please park in an available space in the student parking lot and have your student meet you at your car.

When departing, traffic regulators on the stadium side of the student parking lot will separate vehicles into two exit routes. Your lane determines your exit:

  • Lane closest to the stadium: Exit using the access road beside the stadium.

  • Lane closest to the student parking spaces: Continue through the student parking lot and visitor lot, then exit at the main entrance by the marquee and traffic light.

During both morning arrival and afternoon dismissal, please drive slowly, watch for pedestrians, and keep crosswalks and travel lanes clear.
