Fellows

Dr. Brian Fellows

Dr. Brian Fellows became the principal at Deep Run High School in 2019. He began his career in education in 1998 and in administration in 2001. In 2010, he was named a Principal of Distinction by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Dr. Fellows is a proud product of HCPS and is a 1994 graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School. He holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Emory & Henry College. He also earned his master’s degree in administration and supervision and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in educational leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. Education is a passion and is very important to the Fellows family. He and his wife, Carey, who is the principal at Pinchbeck Elementary School in Henrico, have two children who are also products of Henrico Schools. His sister, Dr. Meredith Parker, is the director of human resources for Hanover County Public Schools. His mother was a teacher and his father worked for more than 40 years in Richmond City Public Schools, serving as the principal of Albert H. Hill Middle School from 1990-2014. Brian has been a teacher at Tuckahoe Middle, an assistant principal at Godwin High, the principal at Tuckahoe Middle and was the first principal in the history of Holman Middle (from 2009-19). Brian also has an unhealthy obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles. #FlyEaglesFly

Mr. Brandon Farrar

Mr. Brandon Farrar is entering his first year as associate principal at Deep Run High School. He began his career in education serving students and families in Hanover County Public Schools. He previously served as an assistant principal, senior teacher, Spanish and emerging leaders teacher, assistant athletics director and world languages department chair. Additionally, Mr. Farrar was a swim coach, club sponsor and served on a variety of school and division committees.

Mr. Farrar has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a master’s degree in the art of teaching from James Madison University. He then furthered his education at the University of Virginia earning a Master of Education degree with an endorsement in administration and supervision. He currently is studying to earn his Doctor of Education degree in educational leadership through Virginia Commonwealth University. He actively serves as a member on the JMU College of Education Executive Advisory Council. Mr. Farrar loves all things JMU, is fluent in two languages and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Go Wildcats!

Mrs. Hope W. Parham

Mrs. Hope W. Parham began her career in education in 2000 at Mills Godwin High School as a chemistry teacher.  During her time there she taught all levels including honors and advanced placement. She served as a class and club sponsor, mentor to young teachers, and administrative aide.  In 2015, Mrs. Parham was promoted to assistant principal at Deep Run High School.  She has earned her bachelors in chemistry from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Regent University.  She is a native Richmonder and enjoys music and working with philanthropic efforts to support students in need in her spare time. She is a wife and mother of three children.

Ms. Laura McKinne

Mrs. Laura Willoughby

Mrs. Laura Willoughby, formerly Ms. McKinney, has been an assistant principal at Deep Run High School since 2017 and began her teaching career in Apex, N.C. After earning a B.A. in English at Virginia Tech and entering the workforce, she realized that she wanted a career where she could have an impact. Returning to earn her teaching license at the University of NC- Greensboro, she moved to Cary, N.C., where she began teaching English at Apex High School for six years. After relocating to the Richmond area, she began teaching English at Douglas Freeman High School and earned her master’s degree from VCU. In 2006, Ms. McKinney became the coordinator for assessment and remediation at Freeman High School and served in that role until 2017. As the CAR, she learned the value of building relationships with colleagues, worked with many individuals throughout Henrico County, and strived to impact student lives. In 2017, she became an assistant principal at Deep Run and enjoys the community, the teachers and the staff members. Mrs. Willoughby has lived in the Richmond area for the longest period of her life, having moved around from Connecticut, New York, and then Portsmouth and Virginia Beach.  She went to First Colonial High School.  Currently, her two children are products of Henrico County Public Schools with a daughter in her final year of high school and a graduated senior who earned his master’s at Virginia Tech and is now currently working full-time in Washington DC.

Dr. Angela Stewart

We are excited to announce at this afternoon’s school board work session, it is anticipated that Dr. Angela Stewart will be named the next Assistant Principal at Deep Run High School.

Dr. Stewart has been an Educational Specialist with the Professional Learning Department of Henrico Schools since 2017. Prior to joining the Henrico Schools Family, she served Chesterfield County Schools in several roles - a program manager of professional development, a Project-Based Learning trainer/coach, a literacy coach, a reading teacher, and a classroom teacher in both Chesterfield County and Richmond City.

Angela is excited to join our phenomenal and amazing learning community. Her first day with us will be Wednesday, November 30 and will be formally introduced to you at our Faculty Meeting that morning. Over the next few weeks, Angela will attend meetings as she is able - including one taking place this morning at Central Office focused on the Instructional Model implementation at Deep Run. She also plans to attend the opening night of our School Play later this evening.

Angela will be the content administrator for social studies and math. We will be examining the administrative team duties/responsibilities over the next few weeks and will share the updated list once it is completed with you.

bland

Mr. George Bland

Mr. George Bland joined Deep Run as the Director of Student Activities in January of 2024. He most recently served as Head Football Coach and Social Studies Teacher at Freeman HS. He played football and baseball at Randolph-Macon College while earning his B.A. in Business/Economics. Mr. Bland also holds a master’s degree from The University of Richmond in Liberal Arts and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from VCU. He coached football, basketball, and baseball from the youth to varsity levels over the past 24 years. In addition to coaching, he has served in administrative roles at The Steward School (Dean of Students) and Anna Julia Cooper School (Principal). Mr. Bland and his wife, Clare, have a son finishing his final year of high school and another who is a junior in college. Both are proud products of Henrico Schools. “Coach” Bland loves all sports and is a huge proponent of the student-athlete model. His vision for Deep Run Activities is one in which the co-curricular and extracurricular mission, values, and goals are aligned with those of HCPS and greater community. Lessons learned in the classroom must correlate with those taught on the playing fields.
